Preventing, Responding to Violence and Empowering Survivors (PRoVES) Program

Program Overview

Itthiya recognizes the resilience, leadership, and transformative power of women and LGBTQIA+ in driving meaningful change and challenging the patriarchal systems that perpetuate gender-based violence. Rather than viewing the gender marginalized groups  as recipients of aid and protection, Itthiya affirms them as leaders, changemakers, and collective actors who are actively confronting inequality, injustice, and insecurity within their communities. Through feminist, locally led approaches, women and LGBTQIA+ are empowered to shape and drive more justice and  equal society.

The program logic clearly develop on IF community-led, survivor-centered initiatives strengthen GBV prevention, response systems, women's leadership, and collective action, THEN gender justice will be advanced and communities will uphold the rights, dignity, and safety of all people, BECAUSE addressing unequal power relations and harmful gender norms creates sustainable and systemic change.

Program Goal

To ensure all genders have equal rights, access to protection and pathways to gender justice.

What we do

Tackling Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV)

Support initiatives that prevent, document, and respond to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence through survivor-centered approaches, strengthened community-based protection mechanisms, legal and justice empowerment, and efforts to promote accountability and access to comprehensive support services.

Addressing Root Cause of Gender Based Violence

Strengthen community-based GBV prevention by transforming harmful gender norms, promoting positive social norms through education, media and community engagement, engaging men and religious leaders as allies, and enhancing women's economic resilience to address the root causes and risk factors of violence.

Enhancing Survivors Centered Justice Mechanism

Enhance the quality, accessibility, and coordination of multi-sectoral GBV response services by strengthening survivor-centered case management, referral pathways, community-based response mechanisms, and collaboration among service providers to ensure survivors have safe and timely access to essential protection, health, psychosocial, legal, and livelihood support.
